Programme Update: July 2016

As you may be aware we have been erecting the access scaffold for the trades that will be following on with their works on Euston Road, Argyle Street and South elevation of the building. Once completed the scaffolding will then be covered in Monarflex (scaffold sheeting) for protection.

On Euston Road we have installed scaffold fans over the public footpath. This will allow us to carry out works safely and eliminate any risk of harming members of the public.

Works have commenced on the demolition of the plant room roof is progressing well. The roof is carefully being broken out with two remote controlled robotic breakers called Brokks. The scaffolding around the roof perimeter is also being adapted to coincide with demoliton sequence of works. Once the plant room has been demolished it will make way for two new floors which will be constructed of a steel frame. The steel frame will then be encased in a glass curtain walling system.

On the South elevation of the building there is a garden area which contained a fountain, a pond and shrubbery. We are currently working on the removal of the garden area, which in the next 6 weeks or so should be our new home. We plan to lift four cabins which will contain our welfare facilities. Also, you may have seen our newly erected tower crane which is also in the garden area.   The tower crane sits in the sub basement area and comes up through the floors to the ground floor.

Due to unforeseen weather conditions, the crane installation has been put back twice. The crane mast install started on 9-10 July, but had to be stopped due to high winds. We can now confirm that the crane installation was successfully completed over the weekend (16-17 July).
